Learn English!
Summer is the best English teacher I’ve ever met. She wanted to know my goals and needs first and made individualized plans to achieve them. She researches a lot for the resources to answer my questions. I am Korean, and she understands how Koreans read and speak English and what to practice to be more proficient. As a medical professional, studying English with Summer helped me a lot especially in terms of communicating with patients and co-workers. She is very bright, happy and encouraging which makes me motivated. I will keep learning English from her whenever I need it.

About Me
I moved to Bellingham in 1996, as a college student, to attend Western Washington University. I received my degree in Environmental Studies and after a few years of working in that field, I decided to go back to school. I got my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate in 2004 and began working at Skagit Literacy teaching ESL classes for adults at a neighborhood community center, as well evening classes for parents at elementary schools. In 2009, I completed my Master’s Degree in TESOL and started working for Whatcom Literacy Council in Bellingham. I worked for many years at the ESL Coordinator for the Whatcom Literacy Council, training and supporting volunteer tutors to teach ESL students. Over the years, I have also taught classes for English Language Learners at Bellingham Technical College, Whatcom Community College and Goodwill Education Center. I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, reading and spending time with my family. My husband is also a teacher and I have two children.
